Our project is based on the idea of creating interaction between people thanks to shape, lights, and welcoming isolation from the outside. That is because we want to help also introverted people to socialize in a more confident space. The concept is that people in squares, moles, parks, are attracted to this artistic structure. When the sun goes down everything becomes colorful and poetic, bringing people together, someone wants to snap pictures and someone else will maybe relax or work, in our vision that is the power of social furniture.
Moving to speak about the modularity of the structure itself, it is based on two modules. That can result in almost infinite different shapes, thanks to its scalability we can create a single Pod, for just two people, or bigger modules with almost unlimited possibilities.
Every module is composed of a base, four archers, each one divided into four parts to increase modularity and transportability. The arcs are locked to the base using pivots or the base of the benches. All benches and tables are modular, the same pieces can create multiple different shapes and configurations for a more creative and socializing space. All benches are realized so that they can be reused in every scenario outside the structure.
Our goal was to create a structure, that was easy to produce, thanks to 3d printing, transportable and scalable to different indoor and outdoor locations.
The structure has a very long lifecycle, broken pieces can be easily changed or fixed, the installation can be disassembled, moved, and reassembled. It can become everything: in the most useful version, adding a thermal cover, an emergency shelter after environmental disasters as earthquakes or floods.
