Stairs is a project born from the idea of creation of social furniture for a specific context: public stairs. Stairs are not just a set of steps leading from one point to another on a higher level, but it is also used as a meeting point, somewhere you can spend your free time, or have a rest during a walk in the city. Today, after the pandemic situation, it is even more important to create new spaces to socialize.

Often public stairs are dirty and messy for this reason we created this object that allows you to stay on public stairs in a more comfortable way. Thanks to Stairs, a multifunctional, colorful and fun social furniture that rests on stairs, you can read, work, eat or drink with your friends or meet new people in a new way. Technically, it’s not fixed to public stairs, but it’s heavy and not so easy to move. Stairs has several advantages: it can be easy to produce with 3D printing, also it adapts to all contexts thanks to the parametric design. By using the algorithm it will be possible to vary values according to the measures of the stairs in which it is inserted.

We would like Stairs to become a manifesto in the name of sustainability, through the recycling of plastic. In fact, the rPP material in which it is made, follows the idea of circular design, because it derives from the recycling of single-use plastic packaging and it is more durable thanks to glass fibers. Our idea is to recycle single-use packaging and we would like them to be replaced with refillable containers. It is already a practice in use, and we want to spread this practice more and more among people to sensitize on this theme.

We think Stairs could be a valuable investment because it’s easy, we imagine to collaborate with startups of young people. In this way we can empower our message with a fresh language that we hope will arrive to all.
Each of us can make a difference but only together we can change the world!

As designers of the future we feel to have a great responsibility towards people. We try to project something that can of course satisfy the needs of users, but also something that can be respectful of the environment both from the point of view of the final product and production.

As creatives we have the opportunity to show the world our vision of things, and share it with everyone. We know this is both a privilege and a responsibility, because we must be able to unite our energies to design products that stimulate a change in the mindset of users and sensibilize people. It’s clear that we can not continue to live in this unsustainable way forever and now that we have time to change we must do it for the world where we live.

We think we should all try in our small to have a more sustainable approach, starting from daily habits. We live in a world full of stimuli, rapidly changing thanks to technology, but we should direct the change towards a cleaner and more sustainable world. We believe that designers of today and tomorrow have this task of raising awareness through their products, not only by using reused and recycled materials, but by sensibilizing people towards sustainable behaviors.

We think that after the period of crisis due to the pandemic situation, it’s necessary through design to make people regain confidence. We would like design to become a social aid and a way to have fun together.
